The Azawakh – A Dog Breed You Would Love

Azawakh

The Azawakh is an elegant lean yet muscular dog that belongs to the hound dog breed. Its name was derived from the Azawakh Valley in the Sahara desert because that’s where you would find them. Their breed location however makes them quite adaptable to both tropical and temperate weathers. However, because of their lean and low fat figure, they require some form of body protection in very cold weather. But for, the different hair colours in which they come, most people would likely mistaken them for a different breed of Doberman. The Azawakh was mainly used as hunter and guardian companions to people in the Sahara region.

Like Dobermans, they are protective of, loyal and friendly to their owners but can be very suspicious of strangers especially when touched by them. Due to their hunting characteristics, they have a very sharp sight which makes them very sensitive towards moving objects but they make awesome jogging or hunting partners. Therefore, they are likely to chase other wandering animals or maybe a passing bike. They can be challenging when it comes to being trained. By the way, go here The Online Dog Trainer if you want to know how to train the most stubborn dog breed in the world. And you can do all this online from the comfort of your home at very little cost. Sorry for the digression, back to the subject.

If you like this breed of dog, then you should be ready to own a large fenced compound where it can have at least some thirty minutes run-around exercise daily. Their short hair makes grooming quite easy but you are advised to choose shampoos with care since they have quite a sensitive skin.

All in all, this is a breed of dog you would love because of its protective and loyalty nature.
